Biographical information
Also known as Mary Ann or Marianne.
Marie Anne was born in London and baptised a month after her birth on 7 October 1778 at St Marylebone, Middlesex. She moved to Mulhouse with her family when she was five years old.
At age 22, Marie Anne married Godefroi Hofer, who was 17 years her senior. They were apparently quite well off, considering they could afford to sit for portraits, painted by an unknown artist who clearly had some talent. It is quite possible that Marie Anne and Godefroi had more than the four children listed above, but these are currently all I have been able to find.
Marie Anne died, aged 61, in a house on rue des Trois Rois, Mulhouse. The house where she died may have been the Weiss family home, though her death record does not note the house number, so it may just have been in the same street.
