Born: 15 April 1831, possibly in Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Died: Date and location unknown
Father: Charles Nicholas Weiss, 1789-1845
Mother: Benigna Catharina von Holst, c1801-1845
Biographical information
For the longest time, family lore said that the second child of Charles and Benigna Weiss was a girl named Benigna, after her mother. However, my research shows that the second child was actually a boy named Bernard.
It is assumed that Bernard was born in Liverpool, England. We know his birthdate from his baptism records, and the family was apparently living in Liverpool at the time of his birth. Bernard was not baptised soon after his birth, unlike his older sister Adelaide. The reason for this is unknown. Instead, Bernard was baptised, along with his younger sister Caroline, when the family was in India. At the time, their father was stationed in Poona (now Pune) in India, and the two children were baptised there on 27 Dec 1840.
There is no known record of Bernard's death. It is probable that he died in India as a child.
