Biographical information
Frederick's story is tragic: it was relatively common before the advent of vaccines to expose children to certain diseases, such as measles and chicken pox, which were relatively worse in adulthood, in order for the children to develop an immunity to that disease. And so it was that Frederick's mother sent him down the road with his sister Sarah, so that they could be exposed to the measles that their neighbours had. Both Frederick and Sarah contracted the measles from this exposure, but sadly they also both died from it. According to his death record Frederick died of measles and gastritis, which he had suffered from for 20 days, a month shy of his fourth birthday. He was buried at Bathurst.

Frederick and Sarah's mother Rosetta blamed herself for the death of her two children for the rest of her life.
